Damaged houses in Aralam farm to be re-built

286 houses found inhospitable

A meeting convened by Chef Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to rebuild 286 houses in Aralam farm, which are inhospitable.

These houses will be rebuilt by including it under Life Mission or Tribal Rehabilitation Development Mission. The Tribal Development Minister, A. K. Balan; Chief Secretary Tom Jose; SC/ST department Principal Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan; Labour department Additional Chief Secretary Asha Thomas; Principal Secretary of Health, Rajan Khobragade; and Food department Secretary Mini Antony were present at the meeting held here on Monday.

The meeting also decided to make sufficient funds available for allowing 79 labourers in the farm to go on VRS. The Health department will replace the ambulance inside the farm.

Animal attack

A boundary wall will be constructed on 13.5 km to check the invasion of wild animals into the farm.

The construction will be completed in three years with the help of NABARD.

The Chief Minister suggested that new farming methods and new produce might be tried to make the farm profitable.

He also directed that a comprehensive plan for the development of Aaralam farm be drawn up with the help of Kerala Agricuture University.
