CPI(M) land stir a hoax, says KPCC

December 30, 2012 03:05 am | Updated 03:05 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) leadership has termed a hoax the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]-sponsored land stir beginning in the new year.

A KPCC leadership meeting held here on Saturday demanded to know how the CPI(M) could launch such a stir after having failed to distribute even a small piece of land to the landless when in power.

Instead of launching the land stir, it should come up with creative proposals to solve landlessness, the KPCC leadership said.

‘Speed up distribution’

The KPCC leadership urged the government to speed up the distribution of land to the landless. The CPI(M), KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala told a press conference, had suddenly developed love for the Adivasis for political reasons. Contrary to its allegations, the landless got land only when the United Democratic Front (UDF) was in power, he said.
