CPI(M) Kasaragod district conference from January 9

: The three-day district conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), beginning January 9 at Koliyadukkam, near here, will strive to streamline the functioning of the party in its traditional stronghold, which has sizeable population of minority communities.

The delegates meeting, to be attended by senior party leaders, will be inaugurated by Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at 10 a.m. The meeting will be attended by 282 delegates, who comprise 31 district committee members and 251 representatives elected from 12 party area committees and 113 local committees, district committee secretary K.P. Satheesh Chandran told a press conference here on Tuesday.

The valedictory session of the meeting will be held on January 11 at Chattanchal. As many as 50,000 party workers are expected to take part.

The delegates meeting will be inaugurated by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
