CPI(M) collects Rs.20 lakh for Nepal

The district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has collected Rs.20.72 lakh though contributions from the public as relief for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

CPI(M) district secretary K.N. Balagopal said the collection was made following a call from the politbureau of the party.

The collective drive was launched at the area committee level of the party. There are 17 area committees in the district and the highest contribution of Rs.2.25 lakh came from the Anchal area committee. The collection by the Kotttiyam and Punalur areas committees was also above Rs.2 lakh. — Special Correspondent
