CPI(M) branch secretary found dead

The body of a local functionary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) here was found hanging in the party office at Kuruva here on Monday. He is suspected to have committed suicide.

The deceased has been identified as C.H. Rajendren, 50, CPI(M) Kuruva branch secretary and director of the CPI(M)-controlled local Kararinakam cooperative bank here. His body was found hanging from the iron grille of a window at the office in the early hours.

The body was found after his relatives went to search for him when he failed to return home late at night, the police said.

The police said that Rajendran was facing probe in connection with the loss of gold ornament mortgaged in the bank by a customer for loan.
