Congress should make stand clear, says Isaac

Alleges BJP-Congress pact in Kollam

With the secret BJP-Congress pact coming out into the open at Kollam, Congress national leadership should make their stand clear, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said here on Friday.

“This alliance has been confirmed by BJP workers and as per the UDF candidate there is nothing wrong in garnering BJP votes since their candidate is weak. UDF candidate N.K. Premachandran who has forged an alliance with RSS and the UDF leadership supporting him are a disgrace to the secular tradition of Kerala,” he said at a press meet here.

Mr. Isaac said the UDF candidate’s reluctance to criticise Modi and RSS had exposed him in front of the public.

Main agenda

“Congress chief Rahul Gandhi says his party’s main agenda is to oust the Modi government but N.K. Premachandran hasn’t uttered a word against BJP or Modi so far. Moreover, he had bypassed the State government in bringing Modi to Kollam for a function which shows even his political allegiance itself is questionable,” he said.

Commenting on former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s allegation that CPI(M) has employed an event management company to woo the voters with money, he said it showed Congress leadership was all jittery over an impending electoral debacle.

Meanwhile, RSP and Congress leadership alleged CPI(M) conspiracy behind the recent developments.

“One of the BJP workers who has come out with this accusation is an advocate practising with a senior CPI(M) leader,” said RSP central committee member Shibu Baby John in a press meet.

He added that CPI(M) was treading a very dangerous path by branding all believers and certain communities as ‘sanghis’.
