Complete Maramon convention works before Feb. 7: Minister

Government departments should complete their arrangements for the smooth conduct of the upcoming convention at Maramon near Kozhencherry before February 7, Water Resources Minister K. Krishnankutty has said.

The Minister was addressing a meeting of various departmental heads and the organising committee leaders of the Maramon convention held at the collectorate conference hall here on Thursday. He directed the officials to ensure the safety of the temporary bridge linking the convention venue on the Pampa riverbed with the mainland.

Green protocol

The Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association representatives informed the meeting that as in the previous years, the 124th convention too would be organised strictly adhering to the green protocol. Plastic and flex boards would be completely avoided for the week-long annual meet, they said.

The annual convention will be held from February 10 to 17 and all government departments would make ready their services at Maramon from February, Mr. Krishnankutty said.

The Kerala State Electricity Board authorities at Moozhiyar said the board would regulate the water level at the Pampa during the convention period.

Road repairs

The Minister said the Public Works Department had informed that the repair and maintenance of the Pullad-Cherukolpuzha, Maramon-Kuriyannur, and Thekemala-Kuzhikkala roads would be completed soon.

The Kerala Water Authority would install reverse osmosis plants for uninterrupted drinking water supply to the convention venue, he said. The Health Department would open a temporary dispensary with ambulance facility at the venue.

Haritha Keralam Mission

Mr. Krishnankutty said the Haritha Keralam Mission would coordinate its panchayat-level workers for cleaning and sanitation activities at the venue.

Veena George, Raju Abraham, MLAs; P.T. Abraham, Additional District Magistrate; George Mammen Kondoor, district panchayat vice president; Alex Kannamala, KWA member, and Fr. George Abraham Kottanad, MTEA general secretary, also attended the meeting.
