Collector reviews development projects

Collector S.Raveendran has stressed the need for time bound implementation of development schemes envisaged in the annual Plan.

He was addressing a District Development Committee meeting at the Collectorate on Monday.

Mr. Raveendran said the departments should take extra care in time bound completion of development works included in the 100-day action plan of the government.

Addressing the meeting, Mathew T. Thomas, MLA, called for speeding up land acquisition for the Viyapuram link highway in Thiruvalla taluk. Mr. Thomas said steps should be taken for inaugurating a guesthouse at Mallappally.

K. Krishnankutty Kurup, Revenue Divisional Officer, Adoor, and P.K. Devanandan, District Planning Officer, attended the meeting.

PDS guidelines

Addressing a food advisory committee meeting in the afternoon, the Collector warned of action against wholesale and retail ration dealers who violated the guidelines for the public distribution system.

He said officials should ensure that the welfare measures announced by the government reached its beneficiaries on time. It was the responsibility of the officials to ensure a complaint-free public distribution system in the district, he said.
