Col. D.B.S. Rawat has taken over the command of the 122 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) here.
A press note by the battalion here on Tuesday said Col. Rawat, commissioned into the Madras Regiment in 1998, took charge as commandant of the battalion, known as Kannur Terriers.
Counter-terrorism ops
An officer with experience and expertise in counter-terrorism operations, he had served extensively in various operational and border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He had also been entrusted with important staff appointments in various headquarters of the Army.
Award
Col. Rawat had been awarded the prestigious General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command Commendation Card in 2010.
From 2014 to 2017, he had commanded 4 Madras (WLI), one of the oldest battalions of the Indian Army, the press release added.
