Offers post of of sub-inspector in Kerala Police to Vasanthakumar’s wife

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday visited the family of Central Reserve Police Force jawan V.V. Vasanthakumar, who was killed in a suicide bomb attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.

Accompanied by wife Kamala Vijayan and Ministers Kadannappally Ramachandran and E.P.Jayarajan, Mr.Vijayan reached the house of Vasanthakumar at Makkamkunnu, near Thrikkaipetta, in Wayanad around 8.45 a.m. and spent about 15 minutes there. The Chief Minister assured all possible help to the family from the part of the State government. Mr. Vijayan also offered a post of sub-inspector in the Kerala Police to Sheena, wife of Vasanthakumar, if she was not interested in continuing as university assistant at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at Pookode.

The government announced an ex gratia of ₹25 lakh to the family on Tuesday and offered to build a house for the family in the district besides sponsoring the education of his children.
