Chullikkad tipped for Muloor Award

Noted Malayalam poet, Balachandran Chullikkad, has been selected for this year’s Muloor Award, instituted in memory of the satirist Mullor S. Padmanabha Panicker by the Elavumthitta-based Muloor Smaraka Samiti.

According to the samiti leaders, K.C. Rajagopalan, M.J. Jaisingh, P.M. Raveendranathan and N.K. Purushothaman, Health Minister, Adoor Prakash, will present the award to Mr Balachandran at a ceremonial function to be held in connection with the 143rd birth anniversary celebrations of the satirist at the Muloor Memorial at Elavumthitta on February 20.

They said Mr Balachandran’s anthology of poems, ‘Prathinayakan’, has won him the award. The award comprise of a purse of Rs 10,001 and a citation.

Mr K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, will deliver the keynote address and Mr T.V.Raghavan, samiti president, will preside over the function.

The three-member judging committee comprised of Dr Suja Susan George, Dr C.R. Prasad and Dr V. Rajeev, said Mr Jaisingh.
