Director Sudevan has said that positive changes in Malayalam cinema are helping filmmakers like him to take their movies to the audience.

“My film CR No. 89 is being screened in theatres in cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.

“Artistic films these days are not segregated as was the practice earlier,” he said.

‘Reflection of society’

He said CR No. 89 , which won the State Award for the best film last year, was just a reflection of society around him.

Sajin Babu, director of Asthamayam Vare , said the change in attitude of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation also offered hope for cinema. “Now we are getting the State-owned theatres to screen our films,” he said.

“With audience encouraging quality films, we could expect more good attempts from the filmmakers in the future.”
