Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has sought an appointment on the second of June with Narendra Modi, who will be sworn-in as Prime Minister on Monday.
Mr. Chandy will not be attending the swearing-in though he had been invited to the ceremony.
An official spokesman said that the Chief Minister was unable to go to Delhi on Monday because of his preoccupations. In his letter of regret to Mr. Modi, Mr. Chandy had expressed his desire to meet him on June 2.
The June 2 meeting is intended to be courtesy call. It is, however, likely that Mr. Chandy would discuss the State’s developmental needs and take up issues of concern to the State (such as Gadgil panel report on Western Ghats) with Mr. Modi, if the appointment is granted, the spokesman said.
