Family life rooted in spirituality is a must for the formation of a good society, Nair Service Society president P.N. Narendranathan Nair has said.

The NSS president was inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Prabudha Keralam journal of the Sri Ramakrishna Mission at a function held at the Town Hall in Pathanamthitta on Sunday.

He said the gospel of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa taught us to tread the right path and that was the path of truth.

Mr. Nair said the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and that of Swami Vivekananda had got immense relevance in the world today. Sri Ramakrishna’s experiences transcended the limits of the dogmas and creeds of Hinduism, he said. Swami Nandadmajananda, editor of Prabudha Keralam , delivered the keynote address.

According to him, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was well known all over the world as the ‘prophet of harmony of religions’. He did not say that all the religions were the same. He recognised differences among religions, but showed that, in spite of these differences, all religions led to the same ultimate goal, and hence they were all valid and true, he said.

Swami Bhuvanantmananda, president of the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram at Kayamkulam, delivered the benedictory speech. He said profound spiritual truths were described in simple words and vivid stories, revealing the divinity of man and the spiritual foundation of the universe, in the gospel of Sri Ramakrishna.

O.M. Mathew, director of the Vivekananda Chair at Mahatma Gandhi University, and T.V. Muraleevallabhan, academic co-ordinator of the Sri Ramakrishna Adarsha Sanskrit College at Pala, delivered the keynote speeches.

Gopi Krishnan and Ramdev Vallicaud, scholars in Vivekananda literature, addressed the meet.

‘Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda have immense relevance today.’
