The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday questioned Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Kannur district unit secretary P. Jayarajan in connection with the Kathirur Manoj murder case. Vikraman, the main accused in the murder of the RSS activist, had stated that local CPI(M) leaders had harboured him after the crime. The CBI was also investigating the conspiracy in the case.

Manoj had earlier figured as an accused in a case relating to the failed attempt to murder Mr. Jayarajan. The questioning began at 11 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. Mr. Jayarajan arrived at the CBI office in the company of his party colleague M.V. Jayarajan.
