Camp sheds in Silent Valley found destroyed

Two camp sheds of the Forest Department in the Silent Valley National Park were found destroyed on Monday morning.

Forest officials and police officers suspect that these to be attacks carried out by Maoists moving around the area clandestinely.

Tribal hamlet

One of the camp sheds was close to the Aanavari tribal hamlet and the inhabitants informed the forest officials of the destruction.

The other camp shed was located at Thudukki, deep inside the forest. Personnel of anti-Maoist squad Thunderbolt started combing operations in nearby areas.

Maoists attack

It was only a fortnight ago, alleged Maoists opened fire at police officers on patrolling duty in the region.

The police suspect these to be attacks carried

out by Maoist.
