Bypoll: filing of nominations from February 22

Filing of nominations for the byelection from the Piravom Assembly constituency will being with the notification of the election on February 22.

Nominations could be submitted between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on working days till February 29. The scrutiny of nominations would take place on March 1. The last date for withdrawal of nominations would be March 3, an official release said.

The process of submission of nominations would be recorded as video. There would be restriction on people accompanying the candidates and vehicles. A candidate would be permitted to submit only a maximum of four sets of nominations, the release said.

In view of the byelection, continuing revision of voters' list would be discontinued from February 29 in Piravom constituency.

As 10 days are required for processing applications for inclusion in the voters' list, including notice period of seven days, only persons filing their applications before February 19 would be included in the voters' list for the byelection.

Dates for hearing on applications submitted online for inclusion in the voters' list for the constituency would be advanced. Accordingly, hearings scheduled for March would be held by February 25. Details could be obtained from the Muvattupuzha taluk office, an official release said.
