A new laboratory set up at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Wayanad district as part of launching the B.Tech. (Dairy Science and Technology) programme this academic year.

A recent meeting of the academic council of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) decided to launch a B.Tech. (Dairy Science and Technology) programme with 40 seats on university’s Pookode campus this academic year.

Students in the Kerala Engineering entrance rank list may now give options for the programme.

The seats for the programme at the College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy, under the KVASU has been increased from 40 to 60 this year, considering the increase in demand for dairy technologists across the country, KVASU Vice Chancellor B. Ashok said in a release here.

“A sum of Rs.1 crore has been set aside for the programmeand infrastructural facilities such as classrooms and labs have been identified at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode campus. Faculty requirement would be met by recruiting or restructuring in a phased manner as per the requirements,” Dr. Ashok said.

The fund would be utilised for the procurement of equipment, library books, research materials, and laboratory items. The varsity would sign an MOU with the Malabar Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union for facilitating better exposure to students, he said.
