The student of St. Thomas Central School, Mukkolakkal, who was involved in a ‘hugging row’ at school a few months ago, has scored 91.2% marks in the CBSE Class 12 exams despite losing out on months of school.

The student, who scored 99 marks in Economics, has 90 or above in all but two subjects. “I am very happy. I never expected to do this well. It is the result of the support of a whole lot of people, including family and friends,” he said, adding the schoolteachers too congratulated him. His plans to study law were on course.

The school had expelled the student for hugging a girl student of Class 11 on the campus on the grounds of unacceptable behaviour.

“I studied whenever I could and went for tuitions. That and two months of hard work paid off,” he said.
