Body of missing girl found

The body of an 18-year old girl, who had gone missing two days ago, was found near the shores of the Meenachil River, near here on Friday.

According to the police, Ajitha, daughter of Raju, Manjapally Kunnel house, Puliyannoor, had left her house on Wednesday to check her rank in the medical entrance examination. As she did not return home, her parents filed a complaint on Thursday.

The body was found in Cherpunkal around 12.45 p.m. The police have registered a case.

A post-mortem was conducted at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. According to preliminary investigation, drowning is believed to be the cause of death.

The body was later handed over to the family.
