eposing before the Justice G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the solar scam cases, Biju Radhakrishnan, one of the prime accused in the scam, made a sensational allegation that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was handed a Rs.5.50 crore bribe.
Biju Radhakrishnan stated to the Commission in Kochi on Wednesday that an amount of Rs.5.10 crores was palmed off directly to Mr. Chandy, in three separate instalments. The remainder of the bribe, he claimed, was paid to Mr. Chandy through his former personal staff members Joeppan and Jikkumon Jacob.
Biju Radhakrishan claimed before the Commission that a deal was also struck to share the profits of the solar firm floated by him and Saritha S. Nair between the company and the Chief Minister in the ratio of 60:40. Besides, it was also agreed to make Chief Minister’s son Chandy Oommen a partner in the firm. He further claimed that Mr. Chandy had assured to provide 70 acres of land belonging to KINFRA in Palakkad for the solar firm. Mr. Chandy, he deposed, had also promised a 150-acre stretch of land to set up windmills in Palakkad.
Biju Radhakrishnan maintained that he used to get in touch with the Chief Minister through the mobile phones of Joeppen and Jikku. According to him, he had rung up Mr. Chandy even while he was in hiding in Coimbatore, after the solar scam broke. He also claimed that the Chief Minister had assured him that he would get bail even if he was arrested in connection with the solar scam cases.
He said that he was voluntarily disclosing these details despite knowing that his life would be in peril. Biju Radhakrishnan also reeled out a list of politicians who, he maintained, had a sexual relationship with Saritha, his partner and co-accused in the scam. He deposed that he had with him certain video clippings in this regard, which he claimed to have already shown the Chief Minister.
He deposed that he would produce the tell-tale video clippings if the Commission issued a directive.
