Balakrishnan's brother dead

The former Chief of Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan's younger brother, K.G. Bhaskaran, who resigned as special government pleader following allegations of amassment of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income, died here after a prolonged illness, family sources said.

Bhaskaran, 63, leaves behind wife M.V. Ratnamma, a retired magistrate, son and two daughters.

He died at the Kolencherry Medical Mission Hospital. Bhaskaran was under treatment for a respiratory ailment for the past few years.

Bhaskaran was a senior government pleader since 2001 and was the special government pleader (SC/ST) for the last two years before he resigned in January following allegations of amassment of wealth.
