Assault case: CPI(M) activists questioned

A Crime Branch team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Anilkumar on Friday collected evidence from Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists in a case relating to the attack on Roopesh, one of the accused in the killing of Students Federation of India (SFI) leader Aneesh Rajan at Nedumkandam.

The accused in the assault case were summoned to the T.B. at Nedumkandam and were questioned, said police sources. The police said those summoned were M.A. Sirajudeen, Vincent, Roni, Junaidu, Pratheesh and Sojan.

The Crime Branch team on Tuesday had interrogated Congress leader Roopesh and his brother Abhilash, accused in the killing of Aneesh Rajan in the estate of Kamakshivilasam. The team visited the spot also. They also took statements from the parents of the accused at their residence. Crime Branch Dy. SP K.G. Simon on Wednesday visited the spot of the crime and took statements from the parents of Aneesh Rajan and witnesses. The detailed inquiry into the murder is being conducted by a 15-member team. The report will be submitted to Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya.
