Anti-defacement squad formed

District Collector T. Bhaskaran has formed an anti-defacement squad to ensure that the political parties and candidates abide by the guidelines of the Election Commission in their electioneering.

Deputy Collector A. Nirmala Kumari is heading the squad, which will examine the legal validity of notices, banners, boards, posters, wall graffiti, mic announcements and meetings.

The anti-defacement squad is empowered to remove banners and other electioneering materials, illegally put up by political parties and candidates. The expenses incurred for removing such posters and banners will be levied from the respective parties and candidates.
