All-party meeting on Sabarimala tomorrow

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijaya has called an all-party meeting at 11 a.m. on Thursday to discuss the developments in Sabarimala.

The Chief Minister’s Office said here on Tuesday that the meeting has been called in the wake of the Supreme Court decision on Tuesday to hear the review petitions in open court on January 22, 2019 on its own verdict that granted unrestricted entry for women to Sabarimala.

Review meeting

A high-level meeting chaired by Mr. Vijayan here on Tuesday reviewed the preparations being made for the Mandalam-Makaravilakku festivals.

The meeting said that the work on temporary shelters for pilgrims at Nilackal and Pampa was being completed. Preparations for providing free food for pilgrims at the resting centres have been completed. More facilities would be provided for pilgrims reaching Chengannur by train. The Kerala Water Authority has completed the arrangements for providing drinking water, the meeting felt.

Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran; Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran; Raju Abraham, Saji Cherian, Suresh Kurup, and P.C. George, all MLAs; Chief Secretary Tom Jose; State Police Chief Loknath Behera; Travancore Devaswom Board president A.Padmakumar; District Collectors of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Idukki; and heads of various departments, officials of Railway and BSNL also attended the meeting.
