P.T. Thomas, Congress MP, on Wednesday alleged that the Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan’s fight against corruption was a ‘farce’.

Addressing a press conference at the Ernakulam Press Club, Mr. Thomas accused Mr. Achuthanandan of trying to shield his son Arunkumar, who continues to face allegations of corruption.

Mr. Thomas said that the Opposition leader should make his stance clear on the allegations that Mr. Arunkumar and his wife’s family had a stake in the online lottery business.

He said that there was no violation of the provisions under the Constitution in the petition sent to the President and Chief Justice of India by Government Chief Whip P.C. George against the Vigilance Court judge, who ordered further investigation into the palmolein import case.
