Aam Admi Party (AAP) is keen on changing the governance at the panchayat level as a ‘bottom-to-top answerable’ system and not vice versa.
The people were the real bosses and the elected representatives were the servants of people, the party said in its election manifesto.
It also said hartal had become a menace to people and the party would avoid such means of agitations. Violence would have no place while tackling social issues.
The party also promised a corruption-free rule and any person in power, found to have indulged in corruption, would be expelled.
The party also presented a scheme to promote agriculture with particular focus on coconut, paddy and jackfruit. Schemes to produce value-added products from coconut would be launched. Organic paddy cultivation would be taken up.
A comprehensive scheme to explore the potential of jackfruit would be introduced. Cooperative outlets would be opened in each panchayat to market rice, vegetables and other agricultural produce.
Projects for water supply and waste management would also be taken up.
Digging of wells
Schemes to promote digging of wells in house compounds would be promoted and rain water harvesting would be launched extensively.
The quality of water being supplied through water tankers would be monitored to ensure purity.
Waste management at the source would be given prominence.
Hotels would have to adopt processing of waste at the point of generation.
Industries would also have to comply with zero waste schemes.
Smart classes for schools and improved emoluments to Anganwadi teachers were among other promises made in the manifesto.
