Musician P.S. Vidhyadharan launches an invocation song for the Food Security Army at a function at Mannuthy on Wednesday.

An invocation song has been launched for the Food Security Army, an initiative of Kerala Agricultural University, to enhance agriculture productivity in the State.

Launching the song at Mannuthy on Wednesday, music composer P.S. Vidhyadharan said that folk songs had always been an integral part of farming and decline in farming had led to decline in folk music as well.

He recalled that njaatupaatt , thekkupaatand koythu paatu not only inspired farm workers but also created a festival mood during farming operations.

“Revival of farm-related music will help recreate the enjoyment of farming. The Food Security Army invocation song will help elevating the nobility and status of vocation of farming,” he said.

The three-minute invocation song narrates how the Food Security Army (FSA) is prepared to address the battle for food to all through agricultural mechanisation.

The song is written by G. Gokul, master trainer of the FSA . Visualisation of the script was done by M.M. Sandeep, another master trainer. P.B. Pushpalatha, Director of Extension, KAU, presided over the function. Sreevalsan J. Menon, noted Carnatic musician and music director, felicitated the creators of invocation song.
