The Supreme Court’s ruling that there is no need for further inquiry into a case registered on the basis of a public speech by him is just and correct, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] Idukki district unit secretary M.M. Mani said here on Tuesday. The case was charged by the Oommen Chandy government to settle political scores.

There was an attempt to charge four cases in which the court had already given the verdict. It was all based on a public speech at Manakkad, near Thodupuzha, on May 25, 2012, Mr. Mani said.

“The State could put me in jail for 65 days,” he said.
