Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will convene an all-party meeting here to resolve the issues over development of a road to the proposed industrial park at Kinaloor in Kozhikode district.
Many people, including policemen, had been injured in popular resistance to land acquisition and police action at Kinaloor recently.
Talking to the media after Wednesday's Cabinet meeting here, the Chief Minister said the objective of the meeting was to settle the issues with the cooperation of all concerned. Representatives of all political parties from the district would be invited to the conference.
Mr. Achuthanandan said the Director General of Police had issued directives to the effect that the police should not take any action against the people now. If there were complaints about earlier developments and incidents, action would be decided after hearing the participants at the all-party meeting.
Replying to a question, he said that while the media could raise complaints or criticisms against the stand taken by Industries Minister Elamaram Karim about reporting the developments at Kinaloor by the media, he could not be expected to comment on the conduct of each and every person when asked for by the media.
Norms relaxation
The Cabinet had decided to relax the seniority norms of dying in harness scheme to provide employment to next of kin of fire man Samir who was killed while engaged in rescue efforts following the gas tanker accident at Karunagapally in December last year.
The Chief Minister said job would be provided in the Fire and Rescue Services Department or other departments on receipt of application from the family.
Full cost of treatment would be reimbursed to the station officer Viswanath and lead fireman Vinod Kumar who were injured in the explosion that followed the accident. They would also be paid full salaries and allowance for the duration of the treatment, considering the period as ‘special hospital leave.'
