VHP demands ban on PFI

July 12, 2010 08:53 pm | Updated 08:54 pm IST - KOCHI:

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Kerala unit has demanded that the Popular Front of India (PFI) be banned in the State.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, VHP State president B.R. Balaraman said several instances proving the involvement of the organisation in anti-national activities had come out during the past few weeks. Weapons were recovered from some of the office-bearers of the organisation. Yet, the police were going soft on it, he said.

The source of funds of the PFI and its link to various anti-national activities should be investigated by a Central agency. The authorities were refusing to act tough on such organisations with an eye on the minority votes, he said.

Kalady Manikantan, State general secretary of the organisation, was also present at the press conference.
