UDF panel gives shape to campaign

A subcommittee of the United Democratic Front (UDF), which met here on Tuesday, decided to conduct a series of zonal marches from February 12 to February 20 to highlight the anti-people policies of the State and Central governments.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary K.P.A. Majeed will lead the zonal march in Kasaragod, Kannur, and Wayanad; Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee vice president M.M. Hassan will lead the Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Palakkad leg; KPCC vice president V.D. Satheeshan will lead the march in Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha zone, Kottayam-Idukki stretch will be led by Janata Dal(S) leader Varughese George; and the Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram stretch will be lead by N.K. Premachandran.

In statement here on Tuesday, UDF convener P.P. Thankachan said that another round of discussions would be held on January 19 and 20 to blue-print a strategy to make the zonal marches a success. Tuesday’s meeting was attended by UDF chairman Ramesh Chennithala, Mr. Hassan, Mr. Premachandran, and UDF leaders Charupara Ravi, Anoop Jacob, and C.P. John.
