The anonymous caller who rang up actor Thilakan on Friday night and threatened him is yet to be traced.
According to the Alappuzha South Police, Mr. Thilakan, who is continuing with a strike protesting his exclusion from a Malayalam film project, had lodged a complaint with the Alappuzha South Police around 9.45 p.m. last night, saying that he had received a death threat.
Mr. Thilakan, who was in a restaurant here when he received the call, told the police that the call came around 9 p.m., from an international number, suspected to be from the United Arab Emirates.
The caller, he said, had questioned his allegations against superstars in the Malayalam film industry and said that a “contract” had been awarded to Ernakulam-based known offender Thammanam Shaji to kill him within a week.
The Alappuzha South Police, who registered a case, said the information, along with the telephone number from the threat allegedly came, had been passed on to the Cyber Cell at Thiruvananthapuram.
Investigations were progressing though the caller was yet to be traced, police said.
