BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Sunday demanded convening of a meeting of Chief Ministers of southern States immediately to discuss on the safety of pilgrims visiting the holy temple shrine of sabarimala in Kerala.
Inaugurating the ‘Kerala Raksha Padha Yatra’ led by State BJP President V Muraleedharan at the nearby Uppala, 22 kms away from here, Mr. Gadkari said that both the LDF and UDF governments had not given adequate attention to the safety of the Ayyappa devotees visiting the holy temple shrine of sabarimala.
Mr. Gadkari alleged that both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the UDF had betrayed the people by giving false promises.
BJP will have representation in Kerala assembly this time, Mr. Gadkari said, adding Karnataka, in which BJP is ruling, should be repeated in Kerala.
Many of the senior leaders of the party will be in fray for the forthcoming assembly elections, he said.
The recent hike in the prices of petrol would adversely affect the people, who are already facing the brunt of spiralling price rise of essential items, he said.
The yatra would traverse through the 140 assembly constituencies before culminating at Thiruvananthapuram on February 26.
Among those present included Karnataka Home minister, V S Acharya, former union minister O Rajagopal, State General Secretaries of BJP A N Radhakrishnan and K Surendran.
