The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has called upon the government to relaunch cultivation in the Aranmula puncha (paddy fields) that has remained waterlogged for the past one decade.

In a statement here on Tuesday, AITUC district secretary Chengara Surendran welcomed the decision taken by the Agriculture Department in this regard. Mr. Surendran said that the government should relaunch group farming in the Aranmula puncha to make the State self-reliant in foodgrain production.
