Relatives of Infosys techie Rasila Raju, who was murdered allegedly by a security guard in the Pune office last month, have urged the government to order a CBI probe into the incident.
“We are disappointed with the current investigation,’’ Rasila’s uncle N.P. Manoj said. ‘‘Till now the Pune police have not contacted any members of the family. Only a CBI probe can unravel the mysterious events that led to the murder,” he said.
Rasila, 25, a systems engineer, was found dead at the Infosys office in Pune on January 29. She had been strangled with a computer wire allegedly by Bhaben Saikia, while she was working on her day off. “Had she not been forced to work on Sunday, she would have been alive,” he said.
Her relatives were also puzzled over the delay in the death message. The Pune police had been informed about the incident at around 8.30 p.m. but her father received the call only after 10 p.m. from Bengaluru's Infosys office.
They said she had been expecting a transfer to Bengaluru office possibly in mid-February. Her last call was made to one of her cousins informing about the transfer and her words were about some one entering her work-bay.
Meanwhile, her father Raju, who is working as a home guard attached to the Kunnamangalam police in Kozhikode, had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Director General of Police seeking a detailed investigation to bring to light the episodes that led to the murder of Rasila.
In his memorandum, he alleged that his daughter was murdered under mysterious circumstances and that more persons could be involved in the crime. He said that her daughter had been murdered at 5 p.m., but the police had been alerted only around 8.30 p.m.
He also raised suspicion over the CCTV in the office not functioning at the time of the incident. Besides, Rasila had been forced to work alone on Sunday, Mr. Raju pointed out.
