Veteran CPI(M) leader V.S. Achuthanandan has urged Revenue Minister E.Chandrasekharan to take over the government land that the Kerala Law Academy Law College has diverted for non-educational purposes. In a letter to Mr.Chandrasekharan on Monday, Mr.Achuthanandan demanded a thorough scrutiny of the manner in which the academy utilised the government land allotted to it for educational purposes.

Mr.Achuthanandan sought clarifications on a series of issues. He asked whether the land was allotted to the trust in its present form. He sought clarifications on whether land was utilised for non-educational purposes and also the legality of the governing trust joining hands with a private construction company for constructing flats on the academy’s property at Punnen Road in the city. The government should conduct a thorough scrutiny of the utilisation of government land by the trust, he said.
