Passport forgery: Three detained at Cochin airport

September 12, 2009 06:51 pm | Updated 09:39 pm IST - NEDUMBASSERY:

Immigration officials at the Cochin International Airport on Saturday detained three passengers on charges of forging passports.

Officials said that Numan of Mangalore and Sudheer of Palakkad, who arrived here by a Kuwait Airways flight in the morning, were found travelling on fake passports by replacing their original photos. While Numan flew in on a passport in the name of Nashid of Kozhikode, Sudheer possessed a passport in the name of Abdul Khader of Kasaragod.

Both of them had gone to Saudi Arabia on driver visas and took the forged passports after their sponsors refused to hand over the original passports.

The third person was Sajan of Thrissur, who had gone to Dubai in 2003 on a visit visa. He lost his passport in 2008 and took a new passport in the name of one Raghavan of Kozhikode.

They were later handed over to the local police and booked under the Passport Act.
