PDP chairman castigates CPI

People’s Democratic Party( PDP) chairman Abdul Nasir Maudany has said that no PDP member with self esteem would vote for the Communist Party of India (CPI).

Interacting with reporters during a Meet-The-Press programme organized by the Alappuzha Press Club here on Sunday, Mr. Maudany said the CPI’s verbal attacks on the PDP during the recent Lok Sabha elections were out of the way, hitting the below the belt and in a manner that anyone who favoured the PDP would never vote for the CPI in his or her life again.

The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party too had spoke against the PDP, but none had taken an attitude that was more appalling than the CPI. Interestingly, CPI Assistant State Secretary K.E. Ismail and Civil Supplies Minister C. Diwakaran had attended the PDP’s meetings at Thiruvananthapuram prior to the Lok Sabha polls.

However, once the PDP declared support to the LDF, the CPI began distancing itself from the PDP, Mr. Maudany said.
