The organizers of the ‘Kiss of Love’ protest against moral policing have said that the event will go ahead at Marine Drive on Sunday as planned, despite the stand taken by the authorities. The group said that they were planning a small-scale, peaceful event that would not disrupt public order in any way.

“As per our programme, there will be fewer than 50 people. We will not use any loudspeakers and will maintain peace. Police sanction is not required for such an event. We will adhere to all laws and regulations,” said Rahul Pasupalan, one of the organizers.

The police, meanwhile, are yet to issue an official response to the request for permission sought by the organizers. The group had handed over a request to the police earlier this week. Police officials said that sufficient force would be deployed on the day to ensure that no untoward incidents took place. “The police will maintain law and order and ensure that the public are not harmed,” said an official.
