The police have, so far, not received any complaint about the functioning of ‘Taliban-model' courts in the State, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the Assembly on Tuesday.
Replying to a submission by Aryadan Mohammed (Congress), Mr. Balakrishnan said the police was, however, keeping close tabs on the activities of organisations such as the Popular Front of India that were reported to have organised parallel courts called ‘Dar ul Khada' in different parts of the State. The police had so far received such information only from media reports, he said.
Mr. Balakrishnan assured the House that the government would not permit anyone to set up courts of law of their own or take judicial decisions.
