Nattukoottam to plant 6,000 mango saplings

The Nattukoottam agricultural initiative in Kuttippuram block will observe World Environment Day on June 5 by planting 6,000 mango saplings in six panchayats.

panchayats of Athavanad, Marakkara, Edayoor, Valanchery, Kuttippuram, and Irumbiliyam had been selected for the drive.

Each panchayat will get 1000 saplings. Students and voluntary organisations will plant the saplings at 7 a.m. on the day. The State Horticulture Mission will provide the saplings, according to Assistant Agriculture Director K.K. Chitrabanu.

The planting teams will be selected at a meeting on May 20. The World Environmental Day observance will mark the continuation of a mega agricultural meet titled ‘Maha Nattukoottam' held on the banks of the Bharatapuzha recently.
