The construction work on the Adimaly-Kumali stretch of National Highway185 will begin next month, Joice George, MP, has said.
After a high-level meeting of officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Kattappana on Tuesday, he said Rs.100 crore had been allotted for the first phase of construction. Of the five reaches of construction, the tender process of three had been completed and is on for the two reaches.
In the first phase, the 96-km stretch of Adimaly-Keerithode, Karimban-Cheruthoni, Kattappana-Anavilasam and Chelimada-Kumily will be renovated.
Mr. George said the Public Works Department had handed over the road to the NHAI and the entire work will be completed in a time frame. The NH 185 will connect the High Range with low-range areas and is expected to boost tourism in the area. It will connect the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway with the Kollam-Theni National Highway, both passing through the district.
Mr George said NH.185 will facilitate connectivity of Ernakulam district with Theni district of Tamil Nadu.
Of the five reaches of construction, the tender process of three has been completed
