Departed Congress leader and wife of Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, Mercy Ravi, was remembered at a meeting organized by the District Congress Committee here on Friday.

Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy, inaugurating the meeting, said he was associated with Ms. Ravi for the last 45 years. Ms. Ravi had strove to come out of the towering shadow of her husband and was

successful in proving her capabilities in whatever endeavour she took up. She was sincere in her promises to the public and would go to any extent, at times being stubborn as well, to get things done for her

constituency, he recalled.

Mr. Chandy, who said he considered himself fortunate to play a major role in unifying Ms. Ravi with Mr. Ravi, also recalled his playing the role of a messenger in re-uniting Ms. Ravi with her relatives, who were estranged after her marriage to Mr. Ravi.

DCC president A.A. Shukoor, United Democratic Front district chairman C.R. Jayaprakash, M. Murali, MLA, Mahila Congress State chairperson Shanimol Usman and KPCC working committee member K.S. Vasudeva Sharma also spoke.
