Abdul Nasir Maudany, chairman of the People's Democratic Party, who is one of the 32 accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial blast case, on Tuesday, filed an application seeking records of his speeches made outside Kerala.

Mr. Maudany's counsel, P. Usman, filed the application before the Fifth Fast-Track Sessions Court, Bangalore, during the hearing of his application for anticipatory bail.

Mr. Usman said Mr. Maudany had been accused of moving out of Kerala and conspiring with other accused in the serial blasts, in which a woman was killed. The Kerala Police, he said, had been recording Mr. Maudany's speeches made outside Kerala since 2007.

“The Director-General of Police (Intelligence), Kerala, maintains the records of the speeches.

The court should summon the Kerala Police to produce the records.

This will help in the hearing of the anticipatory bail application,” he said. When Srikant Watawati, judge, asked why counsel could not get a certified copy of the records, Mr. Usman said, “I did apply under the Right to Information Act. But I received a reply that the records cannot be given. The police said they will produce the records if they are summoned by the court.”
