Manjanikkara feast on February 6

The annual Manajanikkara Perunal and 79th feast of the Syrian Patriarch, St. Elias-III, will be celebrated on the St. Ignatius Diara premises at Manjanikkara near here from February 6 to 12.

In a statement here on Tuesday, Diara chief Geevarghese Mar Dionysius, festival committee vice-chairman Geevarghese Mar Athanaseus and general convener T.U. Kuruvila said the annual festival would begin with a holy tri-mass followed by the flag hoisting ceremony on February 6 morning.

Youhanon Mar Milithios, Geevarghese Mar Athanasios and Mathews Mar Theodosius will lead the tri-mass. The flag will be hoisted at all the parishes attached to the church on February 6.

Kuriakose Mar Julios will hoist the festival flag at Omalloor Cross, later, in the afternoon. Mathews Mar Theodosius Metropolitan will inaugurate the religious convention to be held on February 10. Free distribution of clothes will also be held on the occasion.

Abraham Mar Savarios, Mathews Mar Ivanios and Kuriakose Mar Eusabius will lead the holy tri-mass at 7.30 a.m. on February 11. Processions coming from different parts of the State will be accorded a reception at the Omalloor Cross from 3 p.m. on February 11.

A public meeting to be held, later, on the Diara premises at 6 p.m. will be inaugurated by Transport Minister Jose Thettayil. The Catholicos, Baselius Thomas-I, will preside over the meeting.

Youhanon Mar Milithios will lead the holy Eucharist to be held at 3 a.m. followed by a holy tri-mass by the Catholicos at 5.30 a.m. on February 12. The annual festival will come to a close at 10.30 a.m.
