The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Thodupuzha, which is hearing the bail application of M.M. Mani, former Idukki district secretary of the CPI(M), will pronounce its verdict on Monday.
The hearing was completed on Saturday and Friday and the Magistrate posted to pronounce its verdict on Monday. Mr Mani’s remand period at the Peerumade sub-jail will end on Tuesday. He is the second accused in a case related to the murder of INTUC activist Anchery Baby in 1982.
He was arrested by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) on November 21 and the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, Nedumkandam, remanded him till December 4.
Mr Mani’s counsel argued that the case was framed with a political motive to destroy him while the public prosecutor said he was arrested with enough evidence to prove that he had a role in committing the crime.
The others arrested in connection with the case were CPI(M) acworker O.G. Madanan (third accused) and Kainikari Kuttan (first accused).
