Latin American delegation to explore ties with Kerala

A delegation of Latin American ambassadors and a Minister, headed by the Venezuelan ambassador to India Milena Santana Ramirez, arrived here on Tuesday on a three-day visit to the State.

The six-member delegation will assess possibilities of developing relationship with Kerala in tourism, fisheries, coconut cultivation, information technology and electronics. They would also explore possibilities for academic and cultural ties.

The delegation will visit the Technopark here on Wednesday and view a presentation on e-governance in the State. They will also call on Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan the same day and the Education Minister M.A. Baby on Thursday for discussions.

The delegation includes the Minister for Investments and Export Promotion of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic Domingo Tavares, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to India Frank Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, Ambassador of Uruguay to India Cesar Ferrer and his wife Ana Maria Ferrer and chairman of the India Latin America Political Forum Varunesh Tuli, an official release said.

The delegation is visiting the State in continuation of a series of visits to the Indian State capitals for developing Latin American relations with the Indian States. It has already visited Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Meghalaya and Punjab.
