LDF workers picket Central offices in Kerala

April 09, 2010 01:06 am | Updated 01:06 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Left Democratic Front (LDF) workers picketed Central government offices across Kerala on Thursday as part of a nationwide stir against the Centre's failure to hold the price line and against its ‘anti-people' policies.

Functioning of several Central offices remained disrupted for hours as hundreds of LDF activists and pro-LDF trade union activists laid a virtual siege. The stir was peaceful and there were arrests only in some places. Besides the LDF constituents, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, AITUC, UTUC and KTUC-J had given a call for the stir, which was focused on Assembly constituency-level Central government offices.
