AIR to broadcast local programmes

The All India Radio station at Kavaratti will begin broadcasting local programmes from January 26. A press note issued here on Friday said the station would be on air from 6.20 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the AM frequency 1584 KHz at 189.4 metres on all days. The programmes would begin with ‘Prabhathabheri’ relayed from AIR, Thiruvananthapuram. Up-to-date information on weather, flight, and ship and vessel timings shall be broadcast at 6.55 a.m. followed by ‘Udayakiranam’ comprising a talk ‘Subhashitham’ devotional songs and folk music of Lakshadweep on alternate days. In addition to film songs broadcast at 7.35 a.m., programmes involving participation of local talents and listeners shall be broadcast on all days from 8.30 a.m. to 9 a.m., the press note added. — Special Correspondent
